St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Red Sox placed first baseman Mike Napoli on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained finger and recalled pitcher Brandon Workman from Triple-A Pawtucket to start Sunday's series finale against Tampa Bay.

Napoli, 32, dislocated his left ring finger during a head-first slide into second base on April 15 against the White Sox in Chicago. He has hit .260 with five home runs and 22 RBI in 43 games this season.

Workman made three relief appearances for Boston earlier this year. He was 3-1 with a 5.12 ERA in seven starts with Pawtucket.
