Red Sox add Wheeler, Sutton, Morales to play Cubs

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

The Boston Red Sox activated right-hander Dan Wheeler from the 15-day disabled list on Friday and selected infielder Drew Sutton from their Triple-A roster.

To make room for them in Boston, the ballclub optioned right-hander Michael Bowden and shortstop Jose Iglesias to Pawtucket. To make room for Sutton on the 40-man roster, the club designated outfielder Daniel Nava for assignment.

The Red Sox also added left-hander Franklin Morales to the active roster. He was acquired from the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night for future considerations.

The three new players were all eligible for Friday night's game against the Chicago Cubs.

Wheeler has been on the DL since May 5 with a left calf strain.
