Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Major League Baseball owners have approved Ray Davis as the new control person for the Texas Rangers.

Davis will take over for Nolan Ryan, who retired as the club's CEO at the end of October.

Each team has a designated control person who is accountable to Major League Baseball for the operation of the club and its compliance with baseball rules.

Davis, who will cast votes in ownership meetings, was part of the group that bought the Rangers from Tom Hicks at auction in August 2010.
