Rangers left off SPL fixture list

The schedule for the 2012-13 Scottish Premier League season was released on Monday, but it did not include Rangers, which finished second in the league table last term.

The reason is that league officials must still decide whether or not the Glasgow giants will take part in Scottish football's top flight, or must find another league.

A group led by English businessman Charles Green took over the financially troubled club, which was docked 10 points last season for entering administration.

But a vote is expected to take place on July 4 to determine if Rangers will be one of the 12 teams that make up the Scottish Premier League.

A yet-to-be determined 'Club 12' took the place of Rangers when the schedule was released on Monday, a spot that Rangers will fill if the vote goes their way.

If not, it is expected that either Dunfermline, which finished last in the SPL last term, or First Division runners-up Dundee, would take over as 'Club 12'.

Defending champions Celtic will open defense of the title against Aberdeen on Aug. 4, while promoted Ross County hosts Motherwell, which finished third last season.

Hearts will host St Johnstone, Inverness travels to St Mirren, Dundee United entertains Hibernian and Kilmarnock will host 'Club 12' to open the new season.
