ST. LOUIS -- Workers at the St. Louis Rams stadium covered what had been bare concrete on the fringes of the field with a thick rubberized surface for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

The previous two games, opposing players slipped on the concrete.

On Nov. 1, 49ers running back Reggie Bush injured his left knee when he couldn't decelerate quickly enough, slid and fell on the concrete before stopping at the wall to the stands. Bush is out for the season.

Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown slipped on the concrete and couldn't stop, banging his left shoulder on the padded wall on Oct. 25.
