Ramires signs new Chelsea deal

Ramires has signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea, it was announced on Monday.

The Brazil international joined the Blues from Benfica in 2010 and has been a consistent contributor since arriving in west London.

Ramires, who turns 25 at the end of the month, has made 21 league appearances for Chelsea this term, scoring four goals.

"I am very happy with my new contract," he told the club's official website. "I am very happy with the support I have playing for this club so I want to say thank you to Chelsea."

The club is fifth in the Premiership table following a 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich over the weekend, which prompted the firing of manager Andre Villas- Boas.
