Pitt center Artie Rowell out for season after tearing ACL in left knee

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

Pittsburgh junior center Artie Rowell is out for the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee on Friday night.

Rowell was injured early in Pitt's 30-20 win over Boston College and was replaced by sophomore Gabe Roberts.

Coach Paul Chryst called the setback "disappointing" and expects Rowell to be ready in time for the 2015 season.

The Panthers (2-0) will go for their third 3-0 start since 1992 on Saturday when they play at Florida International. Pitt ranks fourth in the FBS in rushing, averaging 356 yards per game through the first two weeks of the season.
