Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons have announced that guard Rodney Stuckey will undergo surgery Friday to repair a fracture of the distal phalanx of his right thumb.

According to the team release, Stuckey sustained the injury when his thumb became caught in the door of his vehicle on Wednesday.

The Pistons have yet to announce a timetable for the veteran's return. Detroit begins its regular season against Washington on Oct. 30.

Stuckey, who has spent his entire seven-year career with Detroit, averaged 11.5 points, 3.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 76 games while primarily in a sixth-man role last season.
