Published April 23, 2016

MILWAUKEE (AP) Phillies right-hander Charlie Morton exited after straining his left hamstring running to first base on an attempted sacrifice in the second inning of a game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.

Morton bunted the ball in front of the mound, where it was fielded by Milwaukee pitcher Chase Anderson. He threw to second for the first out, and as Morton ran toward first, he stumbled and fell well short of the base.

The Phillies training staff helped him off the field following a brief delay.

Morton allowed a run on three hits and had three strikeouts in one inning. He's 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA this season.
