Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies outrighted outfielders Roger Bernadina and Casper Wells, and pitchers J.C. Ramirez and Cesar Jimenez off the 40-man roster on Thursday.
Bernadina played in 27 games with the Phillies this season after being designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals. He hit just .187 with two homers and five RBI with the Phillies. In 112 games this season with both clubs, he hit only .181 with four homers and 11 RBI.
Wells played for the Athletics, White Sox and Phillies in 2013, hitting a combined .126 with just one RBI in 52 games.
Ramirez made his major league debut this season, making 18 appearances out of the bullpen. He posted an 0-1 mark and a lofty 7.50 ERA.
Jimenez went 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA in 19 relief appearances.
The Phillies also announced on Thursday that Wally Joyner and Juan Samuel will both be back on the Phillies coaching staff for the 2014 season. Joyner will continue as the assistant hitting coach, while Samuel will again serve as first base coach.
