Anaheim's Corey Perry became the NHL's first 50-goal scorer this season when he completed his third career hat trick midway through the Ducks' game against San Jose on Wednesday.
Perry started the night with a League-leading 47 goals. He got No. 48 by beating Antero Niittymaki 12:58 into the game, then scored his 49th at 6:46 of the second period.
The All-Star forward reached the 50-goal mark for the first time when set up just outside the crease and he banged in a pass from Teemu Selanne at 10:57 during a 5-on-3 power play. It was Perry's 19th goal in his last 14 games and gave the Ducks a 4-1 lead.
Perry, who also assisted on Cam Fowler's first-period power-play goal, is second in the NHL with 97 points, three behind scoring leader Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks.
