Penn St. administrators' lawyers: No plan to waive

Lawyers for two Penn State officials charged with perjury and failure to report suspected child sex-abuse say the two men won't waive their preliminary hearing later this week.

Tom Farrell, who represents Gary Schultz, and Caroline Roberto, a lawyer for Tim Curley, said Tuesday that their clients are eager for Friday's hearing in Harrisburg. They are calling it the start of the process for clearing their clients' names and "demonstrating that they testified truthfully to the grand jury."

Curley is on administrative leave from his job as Penn State's athletic director. Schultz is a now-retired university vice president. Both men have said they are innocent.

The two were charged the same day as former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky, accused of sexually abusing 10 boys, waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday.
