Pavlyuchenkova reaches Korea Open quarters

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia reached the Korea Open quarterfinals by beating Korean wild card Lee Ye-Ra on Wednesday.

The third-seeded Pavlyuchenkova defeated Lee by a 6-4, 6-1 margin. Pavlyuchenkova is a two-time winner this year, taking the Monterrey Open in April and the Portugal Open in May. She was a third-round loser most recently at the U.S. Open.

Next up for Pavlyuchenkova is Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania, who took down sixth-seeded German Julia Goerges 6-4, 6-0.

Vera Dushevina of Russia moved on with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over eighth-seeded German Annika Beck.

Lara Arruabarrena of Spain and Francesca Schiavone of Italy also secured a spot in the quarters. Arruabarrena outlasted Alexandra Dulgheru 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 and Schiavone got past Virginie Razzano 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-3.
