Paulo's double lifts Academica past Olhanense

Lisbon, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcos Paulo scored on either side of the intermission on Sunday to lift Academica to a 2-1 result over Olhanense.

Coming off a 3-0 loss to Benfica last weekend, Academica needed to get off to a positive start and they did just that when Paulo converted a penalty kick to open the scoring in the 34th minute.

The hosts took the one-goal lead into the intermission, but Olhanense hit back for the equalizer in the 55th minute through a goal from Paulo Sergio.

But the home side regained the advantage with 13 minutes to play when Paulo converted his second spot kick of the day to hand his club an important three points.

The result sees Academica move to seventh place in the table with 32 points from 25 matches, while Olhanense remains at the foot of the table with just 18 points.

Also in Portugal, Lassad Nouioui's goal 17 minutes from time held up as the winner for Arouca in a 1-0 result over Vitoria Setubal, while Ahmed Mahgoub scored with 15 minutes to play to send Rio Ave to a 1-0 win against Estoril.

Derley converted a penalty kick in the 17th minute, but the goal was canceled out by a tally from Diogo Viana in the 58th minute as Maritimo and Gil Vicente played to a 1-1 draw.

Lima scored 13 minutes into proceedings to lift Benfica to a 1-0 win over Braga, while Mario Rondon netted the winner in a 2-1 win for Nacional over FC Porto.

On Saturday, Marcos Rojo's 48th-minute tally lifted Sporting Lisbon to a 1-0 victory against Guimaraes, while Bebe and Tiago Caeiro.
