CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Reuters) - The Carolina Panthers have cut long-time quarterback Jake Delhomme, local media reported on Thursday.
The Panthers stand to pay out close to $13 million due to the 35-year-old Delhomme, the Charlotte Observer said on its website (www.charlotteobserver.com).
Delhomme threw a career-high 18 interceptions this season for Carolina, who missed the playoffs. He missed the final five games with a broken finger.
Delhomme took the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2003 and two NFC Championship Games. He leaves as franchise leader in passing yards, touchdown passes and completions.
