Padres place Cashner on DL

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego Padres placed starting pitcher Andrew Cashner on the 15-day disabled list Saturday due to right elbow soreness.

The move is retroactive to May 15.

Cashner has struggled to a 2-5 record, but has given up only 15 earned runs over 57 1/3 innings (2.35 ERA) over nine starts this season.

San Diego called up pitcher Kevin Quackenbush from Triple-A El Paso to fill the roster slot.
