The Green Bay Packers released linebacker Nate Palmer on Friday.

Palmer was a sixth-round pick of the Packers in 2013 (No. 193 overall), the first player from Illinois State to be drafted in six years.

As a rookie, Palmer appeared in eight games with two starts, recording 17 tackles (8 solo). He missed the entire 2014 season after suffering a knee injury in Green Bay's final exhibition game.

This past season, Palmer appeared in 16 games and started 10. He had 68 tackles (47 solo) with one sack and two passes defensed. According to Overthecap.com, the release of Palmer will cost the Packers $24,724 as a dead cap hit due to a signing bonus. He was slated to make $675,000 in 2015.
