After 16 years, the Oyster Bowl will once again return to Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium when No. 15 Old Dominion hosts No. 9 James Madison on Saturday.

Played at ODU's stadium from 1946 to 1995, the Oyster Bowl was host to several major programs and several well-known players, including Ernie Davis (Syracuse), Don Meredith (SMU), Roger Staubach (Navy), Bruce Smith (Virginia Tech) and Randy White (Maryland).

In 1999 the game was revived and relocated to Joseph S. Darling Memorial Stadium in Hampton, VA and featured a match-up between Division III teams until last season.

The 62nd edition of the game, the Oyster Bowl is sponsored by the Chesapeake- based Khedive Temple of Shriners International, and an additional $1 has been added to the ticket cost of Saturday's game to help support the Shriners' Hospitals for Children.

"It'll be a lot of fun being in the Oyster Bowl...I think it's a great cause," James Madison coach Mickey Matthews said. "My oldest nephew, he had a birth defect, a hand. And the Shriners' Hospital in Dallas, he spent a lot of his young life there, so I'm very familiar with a lot of the great work they do.

"I think anything the college football world can do to help those people is a positive thing, and we're glad to be a part of it."
