Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

Ohio State freshman forward Chelsea Mitchell is expected to miss the 2014-15 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee during practice last week.

Mitchell, the twin of guard Kelsey Mitchell and daughter of assistant coach Mark Mitchell, will undergo surgery.

As a senior at Princeton High School in Cincinnati last season, Mitchell played a key role in helping the Vikings to a 28-2 record and an Ohio Division I state title. She averaged 7.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game last season.
