Griffin retired five batters in the game while giving up a first-inning single before leaving the game with tightness in his right shoulder.
Jordan Norberto took over on the mound for Oakland.
Griffin was making his eighth start of the season, his first in the majors, and he has posted a 3-0 record with a 2.42 earned run average.
