Nuggets add year to coach Karl's contract

Published January 08, 2015

DENVER (Reuters) - The Denver Nuggets have extended coach George Karl's contract through the 2010-11 season, the NBA team said on Friday.

Financial terms of the one-year extension were not disclosed.

Karl has guided Denver to the NBA playoffs five consecutive seasons since becoming the Nuggets coach in January 2005.

"We are pleased with the progress the Nuggets have made," owner Stan Kroenke said. "George has played a pivotal role in our success. His extension is well-deserved."

The Nuggets (35-18) are second in the Western Conference, earning Karl the honor of coaching the West in Sunday's NBA All-Star Game.

He has a 260-161 record in Denver.
