Notre Dame to start Golson at QB

Notre Dame will start Everett Golson at quarterback for the season-opener, Sept. 1 against Navy in Dublin, Ireland.

Golson won the starting job over Andrew Hendrix for the first game. Tommy Rees, who is expected to be the Fighting Irish's No. 1 quarterback this season, will serve a one-game suspension after his arrest May 3.

Golson, a sophomore, did not see game action during the 2011 season.
