No guarantees: Rex Ryan and Jets aren't talking postseason despite being in playoff mix

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Those big, bold playoff guarantees from Rex Ryan and the New York Jets are a thing of the past.

Despite his team winning two straight games and putting itself right in the postseason mix, the Jets coach refuses to speak about anything except for New York's next opponent: the Tennessee Titans next Monday night.

Ryan says Monday that he has learned from previous seasons to tone down his guarantees, saying the fact the Jets (6-7) are a game under .500, "I think you're probably not in the playoff conversation." New York actually is, though, despite having a sluggish offense and a struggling starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez.

The Jets are a game behind Pittsburgh and Cincinnati for the final playoff spot in the AFC with three games remaining.
