No. 2 Arizona forced to shuffle roster around with Ashley out for the season

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

Arizona lost more than its first game and No. 1 ranking over the weekend.

In Saturday's loss to California, forward Brandon Ashley injured his right foot and will be out the remainder of the season, leaving the second-ranked Wildcats without one of their best and most versatile players.

A 6-foot-8 sophomore, Ashley was third on the team in scoring with 11.5 points and in rebounding at 5.8 per game.

With Ashley out, freshman Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will move into the starting lineup and several players who have seen limited minutes this season will see more action.

Deep-shooting guard Gabe York will move into the sixth man role and players like Matt Korcheck, Jordin Mayes and Elliott Pitts will be counted on down the stretch of the season.
