Nike’s Street League skateboard Super Crown Finals made its way to Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, where Chris Cole took the top prize by ousting 18-year-old wunderkind Nyjah Huston and superstar Paul Rodriguez to claim the $200,000 purse.
While Cole may have been the star attraction after landing tricks such as a kickflip backside noseblunt-slide, fakie ollie frontside bluntslide, and a backside 270 to noseblunt-slide (confused yet?), Latinos like Rodriguez and Brazil’s Luan Oliveira held their own and gave the crowd inside the Prudential Center a show worth the ticket price.
Rodriguez, who sat down with Fox News Latino for an interview last week, went big during the contest with tricks such as a switch flip backside lipslide and a nollie 270 to switch backside lipslide. Unfortunately for the native Angelino he bailed on his last attempt, when he tried a switch kickflip backside tailslide, and gave Cole the top spot.
Check out above some photos from the event.
