NFL DRAFT 2014: With Shanahan gone, Campbell takes reins as Redskins prepare for NFL draft

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

The Washington Redskins are finally paying off the last installment of the Robert Griffin III invoice.

Washington's first-round pick in this week's NFL draft again belongs to the St. Louis Rams, the last of three first-rounders traded away in 2012 for the chance to move up and select the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner.

The Redskins aren't scheduled to be on the clock until the second selection of the second round — No. 34 overall — as they try to improve a 3-13 team.

This will be the first draft since Mike Shanahan was fired and general manager Bruce Allen took charge of personnel decisions. Allen in turn has yielded much of the draft responsibilities to long-time front office employee Scott Campbell.
