NFL DRAFT 2014: Cowboys move up in 2nd round, take Boise State DE Demarcus Lawrence

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

The Dallas Cowboys have drafted Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence after trading up to get him with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft.

A night after taking Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin in the first round, the Cowboys didn't waste any time addressing the league's worst defense by giving their picks in the second and third rounds Friday night to NFC East rival Washington.

Dallas released franchise sacks leader DeMarcus Ware in a salary-cap move and is revamping most of its defensive front.

The 6-foot-2, 251-pound Lawrence had 20 sacks in two seasons with Boise State.

The Redskins got the 47th and 78th overall picks from Dallas.
