New Bayern deal for Van Buyten

Published November 20, 2014

Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten has signed a one-year contract extension that keeps him at Bayern through next season.

The Belgian's contract was due to expire at the end of this season, and despite Van Buyten making just 13 appearances for the Bavarians this term, with the last coming in January, his immediate future will be at the Allianz Arena.

Van Buyten has been sidelined with a broken toe, but with Holger Badstuber suspended for the Champions League final on May 19, Van Buyten's recovery could allow him to start the showpiece event at Bayern's home ground.

The 34-year-old has appeared in 133 games for Bayern since joining the club in 2006.
