New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The NBA fined Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade $15,000 on Thursday for making an obscene gesture during a game this week -- reportedly a middle finger aimed at the crowd.

The NBA said the incident occurred at the end of the third quarter of Miami's 78-76 loss in Charlotte on Wednesday.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, TV cameras caught Wade extending his middle finger, although the shot was not aired. An NBA security official also reported the gesture, according to the newspaper.

The paper reported that Wade, who turned 33 on Saturday, was heckled about his age throughout the game by a fan seated near the Heat bench.

Wade re-signed with Miami in July, reportedly taking less money than the two- year, $42 million he had remaining on the deal he opted out of in June, giving the team room to sign other free agents.
