Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has been named National League Rookie of the Month for September.

The 19-year-old led the majors in runs scored with 26, and placed second in the National League with a .651 slugging percentage and 69 total bases. Harper also ranked tops in the Senior Circuit amongst rookies with seven home runs and 35 hits, and his .330 average was also second in the league during the final full month of the 2012 campaign.

Highlights of Harper's award-winning month was his second career multi-homer game, on Sept. 5 against the Chicago Cubs, and a career-best four-hit outing on Sept. 11 at Citi Field against the New York Mets.

Other rookies receiving consideration included Milwaukee outfielder Norichicka Aoki, Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario, Miami infielder Donovan Solano and Cardinals infielder Pete Kozma.
