Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals activated starting pitcher Doug Fister from the 15-day disabled list Friday.

The move, made prior to Friday's matchup against the Oakland Athletics, allows Fister to make his debut in a Nationals uniform. He was obtained in a trade with the Detroit Tigers in the offseason.

The 6-foot-8 right-hander was on the DL due to a right lat strain. He also missed time in spring training due to right elbow inflammation.

Fister won a career-high 14 games for the Tigers last season and compiled a 3.67 ERA in 32 starts and one relief appearance. His career record is just 44-50, but he boasts a respectable 3.53 ERA in 130 games (127 starts) through five seasons for Seattle and Detroit.
