The Montreal Impact signed French midfielder Hassoun Camara on Tuesday, locking up their 2011 team MVP as the second player for their first season in Major League Soccer.
Montreal signed Colombian defender Nelson Rivas last week, and secured the 27- year-old Camara, a former defender, as it continues to build for its expansion season.
"I am proud and very satisfied to be a part of the team's project for 2012," Camara said. "I want to build on last season's good performances and can't wait to join this new league."
Camara was with Marseille from 2006-08, but failed to break through with one of the top club's in France. He then played with second division side Bastia, and joined Montreal in the North American Soccer League last season.
Montreal will become the 19th MLS team next season, and the third in Canada.
