Montanes, Zeballos prevail in Quito openers

Quito, Ecuador (SportsNetwork.com) - Albert Montanes and Horacio Zeballos were each straight-set winners on the opening day of the Ecuador Open clay court tennis event.

Montanes needed just 65 minutes to easily handle Facundo Arguello by a 6-1, 6-3 score, while Zeballos won a first-set tiebreaker with American Austin Krajicek en route to a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 victory.

The top seeds in Quito are Spanish left-hander Feliciano Lopez, Colombian Santiago Giraldo and another Spanish southpaw, former top-10 star Fernando Verdasco. Giraldo will take on Montanes in the second round.

This week's champion will claim $80,000.
