DJ Mlachnik scored a game-high 17 points, including five 3-pointers to lead Massachusetts Lowell over Mount Ida College 73-45 for its first win of the season on Sunday.
Mlachnik hit back-to-back 3-pointers, sparking a 20-8 first half run. He hit two more 3-pointers during the run leading UMass Lowell (1-6) to a 37-16 advantage at halftime.
Akeem Williams also scored in double figures with 13 points. Eleven players scored for the River Hawks, and four scored multiple 3-pointers. Chad Holley hit two 3-pointers and had seven assists. Mark Cornelius had a game-high 10 rebounds and added seven assists.
Everett Ramirez hit four 3-pointers to go with his team-high 14 points to lead Mount Ida (1-4). Kenny Jean was 4 of 5 from the floor and added nine points for the Mustangs. The Division III Mustangs shot just under 33 percent from the floor.
