Michigan State's Dennard captures Jim Thorpe Award

Lake Buena Vista, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Michigan State senior cornerback Darqueze Dennard has been named the winner of the 2013 Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation's top defensive back.

Dennard led the Big Ten-champion Spartans in passes defended (14), pass break- ups (10) and interceptions (4) and finished fourth on the team with 59 tackles.

Dennard beat out fellow cornerbacks Justin Gilbert of Oklahoma State and Lamarcus Joyner of Florida State.
