Michigan smarting after blowout loss to Notre Dame, but Hoke still upbeat

Michigan was shut out for the first time in an NCAA-record 365 games Saturday, losing 31-0 at Notre Dame.

The Wolverines and coach Brady Hoke are left to bounce back and address some question marks before next Saturday's game against Miami of Ohio.

Fifth-year senior quarterback Devin Gardner threw three interceptions in the second half, ending his streak of five consecutive starts without a pick, and the defense allowed Notre Dame to convert 7 of 15 third-down chances and score touchdowns on all four trips inside the red zone.

Although it was the most lopsided loss of his Michigan tenure, Hoke says he remains confident.
