Mets' Niese exits game

Published January 13, 2015

New York Mets pitcher Jon Niese left Thursday's game against the Atlanta Braves with discomfort in his left shoulder.

Niese lasted 3 1/3 innings before leaving the game. On his final pitch, he winced in pain and immediately motioned towards his shoulder.

The Mets have yet to determine the severity of his injury. Niese dealt with left shoulder tendinitis earlier this month, but was not placed on the disabled list and missed just one start.

The 26-year-old lefty entered the game 3-6 with a 4.15 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 13 starts this season.
