College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Maryland leading scorer Dez Wells is expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks because of a broken bone in his right wrist.

Wells was hurt in Maryland's 72-63 upset of 13th-ranked Iowa State on Tuesday. He underwent surgery Friday morning in Baltimore.

"Dez has been playing at a very high level and we will certainly miss our team leader," said Maryland coach Mark Turgeon. "I am extremely disappointed for Dez because I know how hard he has worked in the offseason to prepare for his senior season."

Wells has averaged 16.2 points and 4.8 rebounds to help the Terrapins to a 5-0 start.
