MIAMI -- Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki became the second-fastest major leaguer to reach 10,000 plate appearances on Tuesday night.

Suzuki accomplished the feat in the first inning batting second against Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Charlie Morton. He lined out to right on a 2-1 pitch -- a 93 mph fastball.

According to Stats LLC, only Pete Rose (14 seasons) reached that mark faster than Suzuki, who is in his 15th year in the big leagues. Suzuki ranks 22nd in terms of games played (2,324). Alex Rodriguez (11,836) and Adrian Beltre (10,447) are the only two active major leaguers with at least 10,000 plate appearances.

The 41-year-old entered with 336 plate appearances in 119 games in 2015, batting .259 with a .314 on-base percentage, three doubles, six triples, one homer and 20 RBI.
