The Miami Marlins are quietly building a strong team for 2016 -- and they might not be finished.

According to a report from Nick Cafardo at the Boston Globe, they could be interested in adding veteran starter Kyle Lohse:

"Lohse had a horrible season in Milwaukee (5-13, 5.85), but teams looking for a veteran to add to the back of their rotation will consider him in hopes of a bounce-back season. The Marlins, for one, are exploring that possibility."

Should the Marlins add him, he would join a rotation of Jose Fernandez, Wei-Yin Chen, Jarred Cosart, Tom Koehler and Edwin Jackson. Of course, they also have a top-five player in the game in Giancarlo Stanton, who should be fully healthy to start the season.

The 37-year-old Lohse has played in parts of 15 years, but 2015 might have been the worst full season of his career. Prior to that, from 2011-2014, he was a top-of-the-rotation starter, going 54-30 with a 3.28 ERA in 126 starts.

Lohse would at least give them depth -- and if he can put it back together, the Marlins could be an extremely interesting team in 2016. Last season, they finished 71-91, but were just 6.5 games back on June 20 (Stanton played his last game on June 26) and finished the season strong, winning 18 games in September.
