Marlins' Fernandez named NL Pitcher of the Month

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez was voted the National League Pitcher of the Month for April.

Fernandez posted a 4-1 mark with 55 strikeouts over six outings. His 1.59 ERA was fourth in the National League. The 21-year-old right-hander is holding opponents to just a .174 batting average.

Other pitchers receiving votes included St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright, Milwaukee closer Francisco Rodriguez, Cincinnati ace Johnny Cueto, Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke, San Francisco reliever Jean Machi and Atlanta righty Aaron Harang.
