Mariners sign Quentin to minor-league deal

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners signed outfielder Carlos Quentin to a minor-league deal just one week after he was released by the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves acquired Quentin in a trade with the Padres prior to the season and quickly designated him for assignment before releasing him.

He will report to the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma.

The 32-year-old veteran spent three injury-filled seasons in San Diego after four successful seasons with the Chicago White Sox. He never played more than 86 games during his time with the Padres and batted just .251 with 33 homers and 108 RBI over 218 games.

In 834 career big league games with the Diamondbacks, White Sox and Padres, Quentin is a .252 hitter with 154 homers and 491 RBI. He was twice an All-Star with Chicago.
