Marcel Siem chips in for birdie and wins BMW Masters in a playoff

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

Marcel Siem chipped in for birdie from the collar on the 18th green to win the BMW Masters on Sunday in a playoff against Alexander Levy and Ross Fisher.

Siem had a chance to win in regulation with an 8-foot par putt that he missed badly. He closed with a 73.

Levy had a four-shot lead going into the final round at Lake Malaren. He could not hold up in the 25 mph wind that made an easy week suddenly turn difficult. Levy closed with a 78.

Fisher had a chance for the greatest comeback in European Tour history. He was 11 shots behind going into Sunday and shot 67.

Siem was the only player who did not hit the 18th green in the playoff. He wound up a winner.
