Published May 02, 2016

Associated Press

An employee of Richard Childress Racing in Davidson County has been charged with taking a driver's suit and three crew member suits and selling them online.

The Dispatch of Lexington reports (http://bit.ly/1DTWh9O) that 65-year-old Kenneth Lane Wilkes of Welcome is charged with felony larceny by an employee.

Sheriff David Grice said the driver's suit was valued at $3,000 and each crew member suit was valued at $1,000. The sheriff's office said the suits were not marked with a particular driver or team.

It was not immediately clear what Wilkes did for Richard Childress Racing. A spokesman for the team would not talk about the matter.

It also was unclear if Wilkes has an attorney. He is to appear in court Feb. 14.
