Malkin, Miller, Ovechkin named NHL's 'Three Stars'

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller and Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin were named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending March 25.

Malkin led the league with nine points (5G, 4A) in four games, helping the Penguins stay in the thick of the race for first place in the Atlantic Division and for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

His best performance came last Tuesday, netting a pair of goals and three assists -- for his fourth five-point game of the season -- as Pittsburgh trampled Winnipeg, 8-4.

Miller received Second Star honors, winning all four of his starts last week and holding the opposition to five goals in the process. The Michigan State product turned in a 1.26 goals-against average and .956 save percentage, notching his career-high sixth shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Montreal last Wednesday.

Third Star went to Ovechkin, who topped the NHL with six goals -- adding an assist -- in four games. The 26-year-old Russian posted his seventh and eighth multi-goal games of the year with two-score efforts in a win at Detroit on March 19 and in a home overtime loss to Winnipeg four days later.
