Maodo Lo scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Columbia to a 52-43 victory over American on Saturday.

Jeff Coby added 10 points and the Lions (4-1) won their fourth consecutive game after a one-point, season-opening loss to Stony Brook.

John Schoof was the only Eagles player in double figures with 11 points. American (4-3) had come into the game having won three of four games, with all three victories on the road. But the Eagles struggled on offense, making just 18 of 50 shots for 36 percent.

The Lions made 43.8 percent of their shots, though were only 4 of 21 from 3-point range. They had a 35-29 advantage on the boards.

Lo's 3-pointer with 11:41 left in the game gave Columbia the lead for good at 35-32.
