Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers criticizes Luis Suarez after player admits to diving

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has criticized Luis Suarez after the forward said he dived while playing for the team during a Premier League match in October.

The Uruguayan forward admitted to "falling" in an attempt to win a penalty kick during a goalless tie against Stoke, but no spot kick was awarded by referee Lee Mason.

Rodgers described Suarez's behavior as "unacceptable" and said the club will look to take action.

Rodgers says "I have spoken to Luis and it will be dealt with internally."

The 25-year-old Suarez was also involved in controversy last week following his hand ball in the build-up to his winning goal against Mansfield in the third round of the FA Cup.

Suarez has scored a team-leading 19 goals in all competitions this season.
