Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Lions placed Joseph Fauria on injured reserve Wednesday, ending the second-year tight end's season after he re-injured his left ankle in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.

Fauria missed six games earlier this season with an ankle injury he suffered when he fell at home. He finished with only six receptions for 74 yards after catching seven touchdown passes as a rookie.

The Lions re-signed tight end Kellen Davis to take Fauria's place on the 53- man active roster.

Davis did not catch a pass during his first stint with the Lions in October and November when Fauria, Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Ebron were all dealing with injuries.
