Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayer Leverkusen brought an end to its nine-match winless streak on Wednesday with a 3-1 win at Augsburg to move the club three points clear in the race for fourth place.
Stefan Kiessling scored after 11 minutes to put Leverkusen in front, but Tobias Werner equalized on the hour mark to pull the home side level.
The last league win for Leverkusen came on Feb. 1, and Heung-Min Son restored the lead before Emre Can put the result beyond reach with another goal three minutes later.
Leverkusen moves three points clear of fifth-place Wolfsburg for the final Champions League place with the victory.
The visitors got off to a great start through Kiessling as Gonzalo Castro got down the right wing and delivered a cross for the Germany international to touch past a defender before slotting home.
However, Leverkusen seemed content to defend after notching the opening goal and Augsburg leveled the contest on the hour mark when Werner coasted in to head home Ronny Philp's cross from six yards.
But the visitors reacted well and Son put Leverkusen back in front after he exchanged passes with Julian Brandy and fired a shot past goalkeeper Marvin Hitz.
Can put an exclamation point on the win three minutes later when he raced through the defense and drove a shot off the post and into the net.
Joselu's goal in the 16th minute lifted Eintracht to a 1-0 win over Monchengladbach that drops the club five points back of Leverkusen for a top- four place, Hamburg and Freiburg traded goals early in the second half of a 1-1 draw in a battle of relegation-battling sides, Hoffenheim turned back Hannover, 3-1, and Nurnberg got a pair of goals from Josip Drmic in a 2-0 victory over Stuttgart that moves the club two points clear of the relegation places.
