Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Maple Leafs will be sticking with interim head coach Peter Horachek through the end of the current season before naming a new bench boss.

That's the word from Leafs team president Brendan Shanahan at a Friday press conference, which addressed several issues at the midway point of the current campaign.

"Any time there is a coaching change there is an opportunity for players to look at themselves as well," said Shanahan. "Every team has to deal with their own bits of adversity ... We're not the only team trying to find consistency."

Horachek, who worked the final 66 games for the fired Kevin Dineen in Florida last year, began his Toronto tenure with a 6-2 home loss to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. The Leafs fired Randy Carlyle on Tuesday despite a 21-16-3 record.

Shanahan said Horachek will be one of the candidates considered for the full- time position.
